I wonder how many of you remember Yahoo! GeoCities.
Recently, Yahoo! announced that they’re going to shut down GeoCities later in the year, and have in fact already disabled new registrations. Personally, I never used it, but I know a whole host of people who built their first sites on it, so I can really imagine the nostalgia!
Webs.com used to be Freewebs.com. So that’s another long-standing albeit not as old service. Yet, nothing could ever beat paid hosting! Shameless plug, but Sanity Derailment is proud to be hosted by Holdfire.

Well, soon it won’t anymore. Were the sites you made your very first?

Well, just after posting I realized I made a mistake.. It wasn’t GeoCities that I used, it was Angelfire! Basically the same, but different
. And yes, those were my very first sites. I can’t for the life remember what my links are though..

Why should I be? Angelfire sucks, they (used to?) disallow hotlinking and it pissed a lot of people off.
